This week (on August 2023), the CEO of the Freeport of Riga together with port companies is meeting with representatives from the Constanta Port in Romania. Constanta Port is currently the leading port in terms of transshipment of Ukrainian products in Europe. With its total capacity of more than 25 M t of grain and 1.8 M t of storage, this Port transships ~2 M t Ukrainian cargo, mainly grain, that is brought to the port through the Danube river.

Main outcomes of the meeting:

  • Ports discussed perspective of the Three Seas Initiative
  • Ports exchanged experience in cooperation with Ukraine
  • Ports expressed interest in exchanging experience and in cooperating on digitalized cargo control
  • Constance Port presented their most modern and powerful grain terminal Comvex with impressive numbers – annual transshipment of 3.7 M t grain, annual turnover of goods exceeding 22 times the warehouse volume and max loading capacity of 30 thousand t/day.

Every cooperation is based on communication. Both ports agreed to continue active dialogue and exchange knowledge and experience.
